The world as we know it has changed so much. We live in a time that has so many advantages yet so many disadvantages as well. For example, technology has made communication so much easier and shortened the geographical distance between us and our friends and family. But somehow it has also increased isolation. The youths and young adults are at the forefront of many changes we see in the world today due to their ability to innovate and their willingness to make the world a better place. In this new age, we can stand united and enforce change in real time. We have stood for many things but when we lose sight of God, our unity becomes more of a problem than a solution; we start showing unity for the wrong reasons and as a result, standing alone becomes a challenge. People would rather stand together in wrong than stand alone for what’s right and this poses as one of the big challenges we have in the world today.

Connect With God

Remembrance speaks of relationship, longing, connection, love, and thoughts toward someone or something. Ecclesiastes 12:1 says “Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”.

To remember God means to have a deep connection with God, Psalm 119:55 says; “In the night, O LORD, I remember Your name, that I may keep Your law”. David is saying “I am seeking constantly to connect with God”. It is never too late to connect with God nor too early to do so. David remembered the Lord in his youth; his son Solomon did the same. It is possible to connect with God in our old age because many things may remind us of our soon departure. What the writer of Ecclesiastes captured is that we are to remember God in every stage of life as the great divide of age is young and old. Many old people come to regret their disconnection from God and say if only I had connected with God in my youth, I wouldn’t have done many things that I have done.

 Our Maker

The world may look like it is spiralling out of control and the youth often feel like no one cares nor understands, but God in his word assures us that he indeed does care and that He always has a plan. Isaiah 54:13 says, “All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children”. There is a future glory that cannot be compared to the present discomfort. I believe the word of God can sustain a person and transform their mindset, but it requires consistency and perseverance in meditating and studying the Bible. It is the only way to keep the world’s views at bay. We should stand strong in the word and promises of God. For instance, we stand in Psalm 40:5 “Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders You have done, and the plans You have for us–none can compare to You–if I proclaim and declare them, they are more than I can count”

Take a stand!

The Bible in Proverbs 1:10 says; “My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give in to them. In other words, turn your back on them! do not consent meaning do not permit them”. You and I do not need the whole world to take a stand. The moment we come together for one reason or another, we are already taking a stand. Now what kind of stand are we taking? Are we standing for God or the world? Are we standing for righteousness, holiness, or sin? Romans 12:2 says “do not conform..”, Ephesians 5:11 says “have no fellowship with fruitless deeds..”, while 2 Corinthians 6:17 says “..be separate from them”. Do not follow the ways of everyone, and do not lose yourself in trends because yesterday’s trend is not today’s trend. As youths and young adults, we are to connect with God our maker to take a right stand.

Prayer Points.

  • Let’s pray that we will have such a desire to connect with God.
  • Let us ask the holy spirit to help us take advantage of every stage of our lives and be grateful.
  • Let us pray and ask God that we will live for him.
  • Let’s ask for boldness to stand to not consent, to stand for what is right and not to compromise like Joseph.
  • Let us ask God to send us good companions like Daniel and his 3 friends.
  • Let us pray that we will always walk in discernment.
  • Let us declare that we have a sound mind, the very mind of God.
