The nation of Ireland (by Phil)

Background
The nation of Ireland is one of those nations of the world which boasts a rich, Christian, spiritual heritage. The nation, commonly referred to as ‘The Land of Saints and Scholars’, was at the forefront of major dispensations of God’s power throughout Europe at various points throughout history. Some of the most prominent and influential figures of the ‘Covenant of Grace’ era who were charged to herald fresh revelations of God came out of Ireland. Individuals such as Saint Patrick (Ireland’s Patron Saint & national apostle) are credited with bringing the transformative message of Christ to Ireland and in part, to the people groups who later became modern day Britain. Other saints include Saint Brigid, renowned for her servant heart and generosity and Saint Kevin, renowned for the establishment of the Glendalough monastery and leading an effective healing ministry throughout Ireland and many more.

As the 21st century has progressed, we have observed how Ireland, a historically Christian nation, has begun to adopt many demonic ideologies, and pass laws which are contrary to the divine Gospel of Christ. We have observed how the Antichrist agenda has gradually perverted the original Godly principles which this nation was established upon. Many of these false ideologies have been established in the name of ‘free speech’, ‘freedom’ and supposed ‘human rights’, yet they are simply a decoy to distract the nation from the agenda of Satan being carried out right before our very eyes. It’s time to stand up saints, and fight back for our beautiful nation.

Devotional
● It is vitally important to know that God desires unity among the nations. Scripture tells us clearly that at the coming of Christ, He will ‘gather all nations before Him’ (Matthew 25:32).
● The Lord spoke clearly saying “.. the time is coming to gather all nations and languages, and they will come and see My glory” to Isaiah (ch 66:18). Likewise, the Lord carries the same burden for Ireland and cares for the affairs of the nation.
● Additionally, as believers, we are all called to intercede on the behalf of others. The Apostle Paul urges in 1 Timothy 2:1-2 AMP saying “… I urge that petitions (specific requests), prayers, intercessions (prayers for others) and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all people, for kings and all who are in [positions of] high authority, so that we may live a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity”.
● Moreover, we as believers are charged to intercede for the wellbeing of the nation as it will be a source of peace for us as according to Jeremiah 29:7.

Prayer Points

  1. As according to 1 Timothy 2:1-2, let us pray for the wellbeing of the leaders, inhabitants and key decision-makers of the nation that there may be consistent unity and harmony in neighbourhoods and wider communities.
  2. Let us pray that God will raise up God-fearing representatives to be effective voices in our government, Senate, corporations and schools (Proverbs 14:34).
  3. The Bible says ‘Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour’ (1 Peter 5:8). Let us pray against the Satanic agenda which is trying to penetrate every facet of modern Irish society to deceive many and that the Lord will disrupt and destroy its progress.
  4. Like God raised up the Prophet Ezekiel to be a watchman over the nation of Israel in Ezekiel 3:17, let us pray that God will raise up watchmen from among us, a people who are burdened to intercede on the nation’s behalf, plead its case before the Lord and survey the spiritual landscape of the nation to warn from impending attacks such as hidden agendas etc.
  5. Let us pray for a turning of the hearts of the people of Ireland back towards the Lord in line with Lamentations 3:40 and Isaiah 55:7.
  6. Let us pray that the Lord will awaken us believers to our purpose for being in this land and what we as the body of Christ need to do for the sake of this nation as according to Philippians 2:3-4.
