Victory over persistent battles

Life is a constant battle; there are spiritual battles, health battles, financial battles, relationship battles, family related battles, career battles and more. Sometimes these battles become persistent. Persistent battles are prolonged difficulties; it is when distasteful and distressing situations become unremitting, protracted, dragging out for too long and making life hard and unbearable. Persistent battles have the potential of draining people mentally, physically, financially, and spiritually leaving them exhausted and feeling defeated about life.

Persistent Battles requires total surrender:
It brings us to a realisation that there are battles we cannot win without the Lord’s help. So our prayer in these situations expresses our complete dependence in the name of the Lord, declaring that we can’t fight this on our own.

  1. Persistent battles are won through persistent Praise. Just like the Israelites praising before the walled city of Jericho, our praise can cause the siege against our lives to collapse
Joshua 6:16,20 The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the LORD has given you the city! 20)When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city.
Isaiah 25:1 Lord you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things.
  2. To face persistent battles, we must be dressed for the battle: Dress up with the truth of God’s word, with God’s righteousness as a breast plate, with faith as a shield, with salvation as a helmet, with the word of God as a sword
Eph 6:11-18 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
  3. Persistent battles are won through Persistent prayer:
Luke 18:2-8 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ 4)“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5)yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’ ” 6)And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8)I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly.
  4. We win persistent battles through continues confession of God’s promises:
Be persistent in the word, declare and confess the promises of God over the situation
1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world.
PSALM 119:172 ‘My tongue shall speak of Your word, for all Your commandments are righteousness”
Roman 8: 37 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
John 5:5 Who is he that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the son of God.
Joshua 1:9. Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with You, he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Prayer

  1. We are walking into the spiritual battlefield with the weapon of praise like the Israelites. Lets begin not by telling God about our problems but telling our problems about our God,
Psalm 150:1-6 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
  2. We have to walk in the consciousness of our righteousness in Christ, in the knowledge of the truth, in faith, and in the word.
Pray against voices of condemnation, against lies that holds us captive, against the spirit of doubt and ask God for grace to grow in his word, in faith, and in righteous living
    Eph 6:11-18
  3. Ask for the grace to be persistent in prayer, that the Lord will make you a praying warrior, and that your strength will not fail in the days of adversity.
Prov 24:10 If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.
  4. Stand on the promises of God, and claim victory over every persistent battle in Jesus name
1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world.
