Praying for National and Global Revival (by Powell)

There is an urgent need and call for us to come together as a united force in prayer for a Global revival. Our God is the king of Nations and lover of the world. (Jeremiah 10:7, 2 Chronicles 7: 14-16, John 3:16)
The prophet Jeremiah reveals that God’s plan is not limited to individuals but extends to peoples, groups and nations. If there was ever a time we needed to pray for global revival, that time is now. In the days of the apostle Paul, he forewarned Timothy, his prodigy, saying “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come”. For us today, those times are not coming, they are here; we are living in Perilous times (2Timothy 3:1-15)

The world is becoming more and more unsafe, unstable, violent, dangerous, and more people are growing fearful and hopeless. Others are growing further away from God and from the concept of God. The love, the excitement, the joy and the passion of many Christians have grown cold. Evil has substituted good, immorality is celebrated as culture and darkness has taken over the minds of many.

The world needs a revival, a spiritual reawakening, a restored love for God, an appreciation of God’s standard of holiness, a passion for His Word and His church, a convicting awareness of personal and corporate sin, a spirit of humility, and a desire for repentance and growth in righteousness. Revival stirs up a hunger for God, for His word and for Prayer. It opens our eyes to our purpose and calling to the lost world and provokes our hearts to willing and active service for the Lord. True Revival is of the Spirit not of the flesh and true revival does not simply seek to change our circumstances but to change our hearts.
“Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to Me with all your heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning.” 13So rend your hearts and not your garments, and return to the LORD your God. (Joel 2:12,13)
God’s will is that “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14)

The global revival begins with us, it has to start from our homes to our church, and then to the community and to the Nations of the world. We have to restore the alter of prayer and daily devotion and study of the word, in our homes. Righteousness and holiness have to be virtues we cherish.

  • Psalm 63:1 God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
  • Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
This world needs a fresh hunger and thirst, not after the latest technology but a hunger after God, a thirst for His word, for holiness and for righteousness.

Prayer

  1. Pray for a great outpouring of the Spirit and power of God in all nations of the world. God said he will pour out upon all, not upon some. Pray for God’s fire of revival to fall on us
Joel 2:28,29 “And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. 29And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
Acts 1:8 “ But you will receive power when the holy spirit come upon you, and you will be witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth “
  2. Pray that Nations, cities and communities, will turn back to God as they become convicted by the Holy Spirit.
Jon 16:8 And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
  3. We pray for the reign of righteousness in the governments and in the nations of the world
Prov 14:34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.
  4. Pray for the restoration of the fear of God in the hearts of men, in the governments and institutions of the earth.
Psalm 36:1 I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes.
  5. Pray that every believer whose hand is in the plow will not look back, we won’t lose our zeal and love for God, our commitment to the truth, our dedication to his service…

  6. Revive us again that we may rejoice
(Psalm 85:6) Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
  7. The Call for revival among Nations of the world need committed Workers and Stewards of the gospel. Pray that God will send workers into the global harvest field and let them bring in the harvest In Jesus Name.
Luke 10:2 He told them, the harvest is abundant, but the workers are few therefore, pray to the lord of harvest to send out workers to the harvest

Psalm 22:27 And all the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before him.
  9. Pray for all world leaders and those in authority in groups and organisations all across the world, that they would be drawn to God.
Proverbs 21: 1-2 The king’s heart is in the hand of the lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. (2) Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the lord weighs the hearts. Let the spirit of the lord be stirred up in the heart of all leaders and head of different organisations in all nations of the world world for them to have an encounter with the lord as Apostle Paul encountered Christ.
  10. Pray that the eyes of those who have been deceived will open, that God will grant them revelation of the truth and they will be restored in relationship with God.
Jeremiah 3:22 “Return, faithless people; I will cure you of backsliding.” “Yes, we will come to you, for you are the LORD our God.
