The Begotten Son

God’s plan of Salvation is something he purposed before time began. He already foreknew the fall of mankind. When he made the body of man out of the dust of the earth, he knew he was going to pronounce a curse on the whole earth because of the sin of Adam. In our flesh dwells nothing good.

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—” Romans‬ ‭5:12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.” Romans‬ ‭7:18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God knew fully well we could not save ourselves from sin. The desire was there but there was no power to perform it. No amount of blood of bulls, goats and lambs that were offered according to the Law of Moses, under the Old Covenant, could ever take away human sin. For this reason, God commissioned his Son Jesus Christ to carry out this mission of redemption way before time began.

God also provided for himself the human body in which Christ came, by which he took upon himself the whole sin of humanity – The perfect Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. By his broken body on the cross and the blood that he shed, he purchased for us an eternal redemption. He conquered death and the grave when God raised him from the dead, becoming the firstborn from the dead (The Begotten Son). When we believe in this Begotten son, we shall never die but have eternal life.

We can fully depend on God’s redemptive plan through Jesus Christ because God can never lie. His counsel is immutable, he does not change. Unlike man that lies, God swears by himself to his own hurt. When he said to Christ in the Psalms, “Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee”, he followed through by sending Christ to die for us on the cross. God raised Christ from the dead, his body did not rot in the grave. Christ became the firstborn or the first begotten from the dead. It is this resurrected Christ who ascended into the heavens; now exalted and seated at the right hand of the Father. We can now call upon this Begotten Son for our salvation. In Him we have hope for eternal life.

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John‬ ‭3:14-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John‬ ‭1:12-13‬ ‭KJV

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.””
Romans‬ ‭10:9, 11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians‬ ‭2:8-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,”

‭‭Titus‬ ‭1:1-2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We can attest with Apostle Paul here, that our God, who cannot lie, promised us the inheritance of eternal life before time ever began. For this, we give him all the glory.
