He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. (Luke 10:2)

Have you ever pondered the reason our Lord Jesus Christ, came to earth?  Yes, we are all aware that He came into this world mainly because of the fall of Adam and Eve, in the Garden of Eden.  However, His reason for coming is much more.  He came also to re-establish and restore God’s Kingdom on earth back to humanity, by reconciling fallen humanity back to God through His shed blood on the cross of Calvary.  ( Genesis 3: 8-15 ) & ( John 3: 16-20 ).

During the three and a half years of His earthly ministry, Jesus assembled unto Himself disciples of whom he made apostles.  The question we should all ask ourselves here is, why did Jesus Christ need these followers and apostles?  There is an adage that says, “a tree cannot make a forest “.  Our good Saviour knew this. He needed many qualified hands on deck, to make His mission on earth a very resounding success.

The same principle applies to today’s Church of Christ on earth.  Jesus Christ told His apostles that the harvest in the fields is very ripe and plentiful, but there are very few labourers in the fields to gather the ripe and plentiful harvest.  He asked them to pray for the Lord of harvest to send labourers to carry out the great work at hand.  ( Luke 10: 1-12 ). Jesus used this farming analogy, because if a field is ripe for harvest and it is not promptly harvested and gathered, many of the crops will rotten and spoil.

So many souls in our current world, will needlessly end up in hell, because there are not enough labourers in God’s vineyard to harvest them.  We must now individually ask ourselves, are we willing to become workers and labourers in God’s vineyard to catch these souls before they are eternally lost?  Remember, we weren’t saved to play church or warm the pews of church auditoriums on Sundays.  As Apostle Paul said in 2Corinthians 5: 18-21, we have been called and reconciled unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  So now has God also ordained everyone of His precious children, to reconcile the world to Him through the spreading of the  good news of the gospel.  If we are truly of God, this is a task we ought not to take lightly.

Imagine if nobody took the time to lead you to Christ, where would you be today?  Take a minute and allow this to sink in.  This is why it is very paramount that everyone of us roll up our collective sleeves, and get in the vineyard of soul harvesting.  Yes, Almighty God has given everyone of us varying and diverse gifts and talents.  It is also very true, that we can serve God in other various capacities.  However, I believe nothing comes close in our duties for/to God as soul winning.  ( Luke 15:7 )  Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who REPENTS than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no REPENTANCE.  Christ Himself even illustrated this further by using the parable of the lost sheep  ( Luke 15: 1-7 )

We’ve all being called to do the work of evangelism more than any other services we can render to God.  It is not special calling exclusive to some believers, we are all commanded to do it.  How we do it, varies from one believer to another.  If you are already actively winning souls for God, praise God for the good work He is doing through your life!  If you have never partaken in this priceless command of Christ, this is the perfect time to start!!  We do not want to end up facing our Creator empty handed.

On His departure from earth, Jesus gave what we all now know as the GREAT COMMISSION (Matthew 28: 18-20 ).  He urged every believer to actively spread the good news of the gospel to the very ends of the earth! If you are truly a believer in the Lord Jesus, then enter the vineyard and obediently do the work of our heavenly Father.
