“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
From the very beginning, God’s relationship with humanity was founded on blessing with purpose. Genesis 1:28 is not merely a command—it is a divine empowerment. God commanded humanity to be fruitful, multiply, and exercise dominion.
Before Adam and Eve ever worked the ground, God released a blessing that enabled fruitfulness, productivity, and dominion.
Fruitfulness in the Kingdom is not limited to biological increase; it speaks of impact, influence, growth, and effectiveness. God expects His people to produce results that advance His Kingdom—spiritually, socially, economically, and morally
However, we must understand the why behind the power. Deuteronomy 8:18 provides the clarity we need:
“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant…”
This reveals a vital truth: Dominion is a covenant tool. God releases capacity and resources not for our self-exaltation, but to make His ways known among the nations.
Abraham serves as the primary example of covenant-driven dominion. He was “very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold” (Genesis 13:2), yet his wealth never became an idol. Instead, it served as a megaphone for God’s glory.
God’s promise in Genesis 12:2–3 was clear: “I will bless you… and you shall be a blessing.“Because Abram walked in dominion, kings recognized his authority and nations feared his God. His life became a living sermon. His dominion was not selfish; it was missional.
True dominion finds its “Yes” and “Amen” in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20). As believers, we are entrusted with influence in business, ministry, and culture—not to build personal empires, but to point others to the King.
• Does your productivity open doors for testimony?
• Does your influence reveal God’s character?
• Does your dominion flow from Covenant Alignment or Personal Pride?
Key Truth: You were created to be influential, but your dominion exists to reveal Christ to the world. Wealth and authority are tools—never the destination.
