DAY 9 – THE SPREAD OF THE GOSPEL IN EUROPE

So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.

Acts 19:20 NKJV

Europe did not stumble into Christianity by chance. The Gospel came here because God intentionally sent it. In Acts 16:9, Paul received a vision of a man from Macedonia pleading, “Come over and help us.” That moment matters, because it reveals God’s heart for Europe. Heaven initiated the movement. When the Gospel arrived, it did not remain an idea, a philosophy, or merely a belief system—it became a transforming power. It changed individuals. It reshaped cities. It influenced cultures and redirected entire nations.

Acts 19:20 tells us that the Word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed. This means it overcame resistance. It confronted darkness. It displaced idols and reordered lives. The Gospel did not negotiate with opposition—it prevailed. This is always the nature of the Word of God when it is received in truth and power.

Europe has known this reality before. The early church spread through Greece and Rome with boldness and conviction. In later centuries, God moved again—through the Celtic church, through the Reformation, and through various great awakenings. Christ was proclaimed openly, Scripture was honoured, and societies were transformed as people aligned their lives with the truth of the Gospel.

And yet, though seasons have changed, the Word of God has not changed. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8, NKJV). The same Gospel that once prevailed across Europe still carries power today. God is not finished with this continent.

The Lord declares in Haggai 2:9 (NKJV), “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than the former.” This is not nostalgia—it is promise. Therefore, we pray for a renewed revelation of Christ, for Europe to remember her true identity in Him, and for the Word of the Lord to grow mightily once again. We pray that it will prevail—bringing light, truth, and salvation—until this continent finds its true life and hope in Christ alone.

Prayer Points:

1. Pray for the Word of the Lord to spread and prevail again. Pray that across Europe, the Word of the Lord would grow mightily—overcoming resistance, breaking through unbelief, and bearing lasting fruit. (Acts 19:20)

2. Pray for renewed revelation of Jesus Christ. Ask that Christ would be revealed afresh as Lord and Savior. (Hebrews 13:8)

3. Pray for hearts to be opened, as in the book of Acts. Pray that God would open hearts, as He did for Lydia, to receive the Gospel with faith and obedience. (Acts 16:14)

4. Pray for idols to be displaced and lives reordered. Pray that whatever competes with Christ, whether secularism, materialism, or false security, would lose its hold as the Gospel takes root. (Acts 19:18–20)

5. Pray for the Church in Europe to be strengthened and awakened. Ask God to strengthen believers, restore confidence in the truth of Scripture, and awaken the Church to her calling. (Romans 1:16)

6. Pray for a generation to rediscover its identity in Christ. Pray especially for the younger generations to find their true identity, not in culture or ideology, but in Jesus Christ alone. (Colossians 2:6–10)

7. Pray for the promise of latter glory to be fulfilled. Pray with faith that what God has promised will come to pass, and that the latter glory will be greater than the former. (Haggai 2:9)

8. Pray for faithful witnesses to be raised up across the continent. Ask the Lord to raise men and women who will speak the Word with clarity, humility, and courage in every nation and city. (Romans 10:14–15)
