“He is the Head of his body, which is the church” Colossians 1:18a
“I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears
much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5
When we think of a body, we instinctively picture a head, arms, legs, chest, feet, and other
parts. It’s nearly impossible to imagine a body without a head. The head serves as the body’s
control centre—it sees, hears, smells, and makes decisions. Yet, it relies on the body to carry
out actions. Similarly, as we pray for the body of Christ today, remember that you are a vital
part of this body. Jesus, the head, depends on you to help make His body function effectively.
So first, pray for yourself as part of the Church:
- Thank the Lord Jesus for making you a part of His body!
- Pray that you will fulfill your assignment in the body passionately, effectively and
completely.
- Pray that as a branch of Jesus, you will be very fruitful
Next, pray for all believers:
“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your
prayers for all believers everywhere.”
Ephesians 6: 18 NLT
“In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray
for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that
no one falls behind or drops out.” Ephesians 6:18 MSG
The Church of Jesus Christ, stands as the beacon of light and truth in a world shrouded in
darkness. In these times of moral decline, increasing hostility toward faith, and spiritual apathy, the Church faces numerous challenges. Therefore, it is imperative for Christians to engage in
fervent prayer for the Church, contending for its purity, strength, and mission. Jesus Himself
modeled this intercession when He prayed for His disciples and all future believers in John
- He prayed for their unity (“that they may be one”), their protection from evil, and their
sanctification through truth (John 17:15-17). These themes remain relevant as the Church
contends with division, spiritual attacks, and the need for holiness.
- Pray that the Lord Jesus will sanctify His Church
- Pray that Church will take its full position as light, salt and truth.
- Pray that the church will experience the move and expressions of the Spirit like never
before
- Pray against seeds of discord in the Church.
- Pray that the love of Jesus will be deepened amongst believers
- Pray that the body of Christ will indeed be one force united against the devil
- Pray that church will not succumb to societal pressure but uphold biblical truths.
Finally, pray specifically for Solid rock Dublin:
- Pray that our church will fulfill its mandate and take its spiritual position here in Dublin
and in Ireland at large.
- Ask the Lord to strengthen and equip our Pastors and leaders (2 Timothy 4:2; Acts
20:28)
- Pray for expansion in our gospel outreaches, finances and societal influence (Isaiah
54:2, Colossians 4:4)
- Pray for an abundance of the outpouring of the Spirit, made manifest in our church
through the word, and the expression of all the gifts of the Spirit (Acts 2:17, Ephesians
4:11-12, I Corinthians 12:8-10)
- Pray for all departments of the church, for growth and effectiveness in service (Romans
12:11, Colossians 3:23).
- Pray for the health and wellbeing of our members (Isaiah 26:3, Psalm 91).
