“The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
Back against the pillar, on the floor with the tears flowing freely down my face I sat on my knees, God’s presence so strong, it was very tangible. He had shown up but there I was feeling so unworthy. It was a time to spend in His presence but my thoughts were that I did not deserve this time that He honoured to be with me. The truth was that, I was growing in Him, spending a lot of time reading the Word and then persistently I had asked for a job. He answered by blessing me with a good one and now my time with Him was no longer as it was. Suddenly I was always in a hurry, barely had time to spend to pray properly nor read and study His Word as I used to, and the guilt was driving me further away. Alone at last in His presence, in humility and desperate for Him, though not deserving but He showed up to say, “You are my precious possession and I have loved you with an everlasting love. My love for you is unconditional forever.”
Many Christians have become so guilt-ridden that they would perceive God as God who is ready to judge, condemn and whack them for not praying rather than see Him as a loving Father who understands our nature. True friends do not mind the occasional lapse in communication as long as the friendship still exists. God’s Spirit then began reveal God’s love to me. It is like a man who saw a pretty teacup in a dirty shop, bought it with lots of money more than it is worth because of the love he has for it. He then washed it clean and keeps it in a very precious place away from harm. Whether the cup served him tea or is just lying on the shelf, the buyer still loves it. If it gets a crack, He quickly fixes it so that it does not fall into pieces. Likewise, while we were sinners bound in the kingdom of darkness, God had used the precious blood of His only Son to purchase us, and now He keeps us as the apple of His eye. When we are far away and not serving Him, His love for us never changes. It remains constant enough to fix us when we become broken and seem to fall apart. We are His precious possession. We love Him because He first loved us and that is why we serve Him, out of love rather than out of obligation. He brought Israel Houghton’s lyrics to my mind and I could hear Him say, “My precious possession, there is no end to what we can do; I’ll never, no never, I’ll never ever stop loving You, unconditional forever, I’ll never stop loving you.” The love I experienced in His loving arms was unimaginable as His warmth overwhelms me. He restores my soul. Oh how He loves us all, we can never fathom.
Are you feeling guilty about your walk with God and God seems so far away from you? Guess who moved? His love is unconditional and only you can walk away from it but He has promised to never relax His hold on us (Hebrews 13:5Amp). Seek Him again, for He is waiting for you to be alone in His presence so He can tell you how much He loves you. You are His prized possession.
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!” Romans 8:38-39
Thank You Father God for Your amazing love that refuses to change even when i became faithless, that refused to condemn nor judge me when all around had tagged me base on my flaws. Thank you for restoring me into Your loving arms again. Please, help me to prioritise my life in such a way that all You have blessed me with will not be a snare for me to keep me far away from You. I love You with all of my heart and I praise You for who You are, in Jesus’ name I pray.
