“So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”
It has been a long journey and now you are finally home, tired from the long work but delighted to get to your own place of rest. You had probably left your home very early before everyone else or after some but at least you are back home. You took some money with you when starting out, to help you get to your destination, have lunch out there, buy all that is needed and more, stopped at the candy shop or snack bar but you never slept inside the shop, instead you have made your way back home to where you first started. And that is exactly a believer’s journey on earth.
We have been fashioned by God, made in His image and for His glory, He never creates anything in vain (Isaiah 45:18), and so we all have a mission on this earth, a purpose to which he has called us for and to which we must give account for, when we make our way back home to Him. With that purpose God has given us abilities, gifts and talents to accomplish the tasks. How accountable are we going to be to Him?
Some had started this journey early in life, walking with Christ, evangelizing, preaching, teaching, helping to reconcile people to God, while some had started much later, different times for everyone. Sadly, many people get caught up in the candy shop and think it is the final stop for them, they engage and nestle in the lust of this life, lust of the flesh and the pride of life, and delight themselves with the treasures of this world neglecting to lay treasure for themselves up in heaven where no thief, rust or worm can reach. The candy shop, the glittery things of this world are temporal and are only a distraction to the assignment that God has given to each man. The assignment, The mission, Do you know yours? We left home purposely to achieve something. It is time to find it out, your reason, your assignment, your purpose in life, so that when you get back home to God our Maker, you can hear Him say “Well done good and faithful servant, enter the rest of your master. Then you can relax.
“But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:5
“Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
to the only wise God our Saviour be glory and majesty, dominion and power, now and ever. Amen.” Jude 1:24-25
Father God, thank You for creating me and making me for a purpose. My birth was planned by You because You have an assignment for me in this world. Please this week, help me to discover it so that i will not walk the wrong path, I will not entangle myself with the unnecessary things of this world, but rather, I will fulfill that which You have created me for. I pray for grace and enablement to complete it as well, and I thank You in Jesus’ name. Amen.
